Representatives of Pennsylvania’s Snyder County celebrated a groundbreaking ceremony to symbolize the beginning of the 35-mile Sunbury Pipeline which will bring natural gas from Marcellus Shale to the Hummel Station power plant in central Pennsylvania.

UGI Energy Services’ Sunbury Pipeline will have a significant impact on the community, according to State Representative Lynda Schlegel Culvar. She said the project is a “perfect opportunity of putting money into the infrastructure, money into the community, and keeping those people that have those skills into the area and working for many years to come,” according to a local news source.

The Sunbury Pipeline is expected to be in service by 2017, and the plant is expected to come online by early 2018.
