Amid heightening protests against pipeline infrastructure in the New England area, Kinder Morgan is focusing on smaller infrastructure projects, according to Kinder Morgan executives.
Kinder Morgan has faced recent denials from local regulators regarding pipeline infrastructure in the New England area even after federal regulators, such as FERC, approved them. Among these stopped pipeline projects is Kinder Morgan’s Constitution pipeline and its greenfield natural gas pipeline.
Kinder Morgan executives say recent regulatory rulings on pipeline infrastructure has made large-scale projects much more difficult to pursue.
Instead, the company said it will focus on smaller projects to build on its existing footprint, like building pipelines parallel to existing ones, or constructing compression stations.
As regulatory reviews become more dynamic and challenging, Kinder Morgan said it has begun preparing for the lengthier processes.
