A pipeline dream comes true in Bruges, Belgium as beer brewer Xavier Vanneste’s idea for constructing a beer pipeline is just weeks away from completion.
What started out as a joke became a reality when Vanneste weighed the benefits of constructing a pipeline for beer that would run two miles from the Half Moon Brewery to the bottling plant in an industrial area.
With the pipeline in place, the hundreds of truck trips a year will no longer be necessary, which relieves deliverers of the stress of driving on the narrow cobblestone streets and causing traffic jams.
“The pipeline is a breakthrough,” said the mayor of Bruges, Renaat Landuyt. He also stated he would consider pipeline construction for other goods such as chocolate, another commodity in Belgium.
